World 80 Invitational Cup, January 2010

First things first - hats off to bagocious1 for spearheading this tournament! The user-driven tournaments in FC Dynasty provide a big element that is currently missing in the game and I certainly appreciate the time and effort it takes to orchestrate them.

The groupings break down as follows:

• The league winners of each country automatically advance to the Championship Group.
• The winners of each preliminary group advance to the Championship Group also.
• The 2nd place finisher of each league automatically advances to the Secondary Group.
• The 2nd place finisher of each preliminary group advance to the Secondary Group also.

Both Japanese teams will indeed face off, but in a stunning series of events they will be battling for 3rd place rather than the championship!

The MBs handily dispatched the Kobe Beef by a final aggregate score of 8-2. The MBs shocked the home crowd with a 4-1 away victory. Days later the Kobe Beef were left feeling a sense of deja vu after losing the second leg by an identical 1-4 score.

The Banana Boys won a hotly contested opening home game 3-2 against Tel Aviv. With the hope of the nation on their backs, Japan was left emptyhanded after watching an impressive Tel Aviv squad romp to a 3-1 second leg victory and a 5-4 aggregate score.
