If anything, the first 10 games of the season displays the parity between the established teams and the new teams. The established teams that are flush with cash had the ability to sign what looked like a bumper crop of new talent at the onset of season 8 and it's showing up on the +/- column. None of the new entrants have a positive GF/GA differetial, with stockman's Dim Mok team being the best of the worst - sporting a -17 differential. Time will tell if this leads to teams being abandoned due to early futility. I, for one, hope that we retain some of our new coaches because it doesn't take long to turn a team around.
It comes as no surprise that two of the top four teams are members of the Big 4; with the Shoguns in pole position and the Robots 2 points behind in 3rd place. Second place currently belongs to the Spurs, with GM_Zamjahn keen to make this blogger eat his words. If you recall, I omitted the Spurs from the Big 4 because they were relative newcomers to the league. In fourth place you have tasteit2's FC Fishsticks squad. The STIX continue to show improvement in their third season, having finished 7th last season and 10th in their inaugural year.
And while it is still early, there are currently two members of the Big 4 that aren't living up to their billing. The Kobe Beef are currently in 5th place while the Banana Boys are in 9th place. The Kobe Beef look as competitive as ever, with the healthiest goal differential so far (+30) and only one loss to their credit. The Banana Boys could be sinking, however, having already lost to two sim teams this early in the campaign.

With league play halfway complete, you can begin to see the top teams pulling away from the pack. What was once a 10 point margin between the 1st place team and the 8th place team has widened to a 14 point margin. Interestingly enough, however, is the fact that the gap between 4th and 8th ( with my imaginary Champions League line drawn at 4th place) has narrowed slightly to 6 points.
The Robots have caught fire, having posted an udefeated record of 8-1-0 since we last checked in. Looks like cyno is back with a vengeance.
The Ants, meanwhile, continue to impress me; not only with their run of form but with their ability to get themselves established quickly. Their 7-0-2 record has them into second position.
The Shoguns lost only twice while compiling a 5-2-2 record in the past 9 games, yet fell two spots to third place; showcasing the depth and competitiveness of the J-League.
Two time defending league champs Kobe Beef now occupy 4th place on the strength of a 5-4-0 unbeaten streak.

With only 8 league games remaining, the final standings are beginning to take shape. All teams in the top 8 are still mathematically alive for the #1 position, with everyone else below now eliminated from contention for the top spot.
The Robots continue to be the class of the league, notching an 8-1-2 record since the last update. They have seen their lead at the top shrink, however, from 6 points down to a precarious 3.
The Kobe Beef have maintained their rampage to the top of the table with a blistering 10-0-1 record lately. Once a bit in the rearview, they are now knocking on the door of first position.
The Ants have dropped one spot into 3rd place even though they have a 8-1-2 record recently. Life at the top of the table isn't easy, and the Ants won't make it easy on anyone heading into the final stretch of games.
The KH Shoguns have also slipped one position, occupying the 4th position with their record being 8-0-3 as of late. Only 7 points out of first, the Shoguns can easily cause headaches to anyone in their way.

The end of league play crowns a familiar champion and also introduces a new face into the Top 4.
After taking some time off during season 7, cyno returned triumphantly and is the J-League Champion for season 8. The Robots totaled 99 points to take home first place.
Keeping things interesting until the final run of games, hoosiers76 and the Kobe Beef finished in second place with 94 points. The Kobe Beef were the most explosive team this season by bagging 148 goals and posting a staggering league-high goal differential of +111.
Sportsfix22 guided the ants to 91 points and a 3rd place fnish. The ants were the stingiest team this season; only surrendering 35 goals on the season.
4th place FC Fishsticks and coach tasteit2 round out the top of the league.
